David Thompson country lies west of Nordegg, Alberta and includes the: Bighorn Wildland Recreational Area, White Goat Wilderness Area, and the Siffleur Wilderness Area. Highway 11 runs through David Thompson Country and parallels Abraham Lake. This section of Highway 11 has endless photographic opportunities right from the side of the road. This tour combines short five-minute walks from the car and three longer but easy hikes. Please see the itinerary below.
Like our other tours, this tour is designed such that everyone is responsible for their own accommodations and meals. This way the tour is affordable for everyone. We can assist with arranging accommodations for you. In the Nordegg area, there are many: hotels, motels, lodges, camping sites and RV parks.
Monday, August 9, 2021:
6:00 PM Arrive and meet at the restaurant at the Nordegg Resort (really just a motel with an excellent restaurant)
6:30 PM A quick shoot along Abraham Lake
9:30 PM Meet and greet to go over the basics, deal with any equipment issues..
Tuesday, August 10, 2021:
5:00 AM Meet at Nordegg Resort
5:30 AM Sunrise shoot, Whitegoat Lakes (five-minute walk)
9:30 AM Breakfast at Cline River Resort
10:30 AM Morning shoot along the Abraham Lake Trail (1.1 km total)
1:30 PM Lunch in the field
2:00 PM Afternoon shoot at Cline Canyon (1.0 km to 1.5 Km hike in & out.)
5:00 PM Dinner at Nordegg
6:30 PM Image critique after dinner
9:00 PM Sunset shoot near Whirlpool Point (Adjacent to Highway 11)
Wednesday, August 11, 2021:
7:00 AM Breakfast at Nordegg Resort
8:30 AM Siffleur Falls Hike (7 km to the third falls)
12:00 PM Lunch in the field
12:30 PM Return to trailhead (7 km)
3:30 PM Dismissal and you can be home in Edmonton by 6:30PM.
Cost: $624.75 (GST included)
The tour fee includes transportation within the park is included. *Subject to COVID restrictions that are in place at the time of the tour.
While we are fully insured, all participants are required to sign a standard participant’s release and indemnity agreement prior to the tour.
Cancellation Policy. You may cancel up to 30 days before the event with a 25% penalty. After that, there is no refund for cancelling. This tour will proceed regardless of the weather. (Sometimes the best images are produced during inclement weather.)
